for the Chaos Emeralds
A Bad Blood Side Story [OPEN][ADVENTURE] [GUILD MISSION] SCPD - SVT City Protection & Defence :: Guild members participating in this thread recieve guild points upon its completion.
This once-proud building once housed a fine collection of artefacts recovered by throngs of local adventurers, but is now a dark and depressed husk reminded us that history is irrelevant. Most of the establishment is irrelevant now, too, as riots and ruffians have destroyed most of the precious, priceless exhibits. Until recently, this fact has been glossed over, as more pressing concerns have overwhelmed the peacekeeping forces. Now, however, it's become quite the concern. With the realisation that a new, Chaos-wielding villain has made himself known to the population, it becomes obviously imperative that the fabled Chaos Emeralds must be recovered, and quickly, before this darker force finds them first and makes use of their amazing power. The bulletin was released by the city Protection & Defence force this morning: WANTED The
Contents of the Anderson Exhibit
City Protection finds itself in need of any freelancers willing to take part in the search for the mystic Chaos Emeralds put into a sealed exhibition vault in the Museum of History. These Emeralds were looted and stolen fourteen years ago during the attack on the city. If anyone is willing to participate with time, investigative work, or information of their whereabouts, please do not hesitate to call City Protection. Cash reward for all participants when the entire collection is recovered. Thank you for your help in recovering our city's most invaluable treasure. ~Arjen Evangel |
| UltraSonic | A new recruit,
Alexander Lee Cardiodagan, sits at a desk cleaning a P-85 9mm side arm.
This involves removing the slider, clip, and barrel.
"This promises to be interesting" he said aloud in a nonchalant tone and his typical land down undah accent, to anyone who would listen.
|
| Ryan | The paper
fluttered down the side-walk from a slight, cooling breeze in the city.
Until it had been pinned it to the spot. The owner, Matt, reached for the
paper as the headline caught his attention. WANTED The
Contents of the Anderson Exhibit Obsession filled every corner of Matt's mind, his eyes dilating, pulse quickening, teeth nashing together. Finally... something he could live for. By the time he regained composure, he realized that he had ripped the paper in two. Crumpled, tossed, gone. So the explosion of the bakery seemed to cause a lot of uproar in the city. That same explosion that disturbed his sleep. His eyes narrowed. It turns out that very explosion would be the cause of some excitement for Matt... finally. On his tiptoes, Ryan carefully read the bulletin. Intriguing... he thought. Whoa, big word. With his feet now flat on the ground, the young hedgehog rubbed thumb and index finger under his chin, pondering. Definately this was connected to the bakery. Wasn't it? Yes. So... the mysterious hedgehog strikes again. Ryan thrust a hand in the air and shouted, "To the meuseum!" The annoying thought tugged at him, Did I just say that out loud? |
| Wind | "Talking
to yourself like a comic hero are we?"
Wind came up from behind and patted the diminuative hedgehog on the head. He wished he could remember what it was called when you were talking to yourself in a story for plot development, but the chance for the joke was over. Instead the shaggy elf looked over the bulletein, praying the thought struck him when he least suspected it. Hopefully this time it will leave him his conciousness and his wallet. "Investigative work, Holmes? If I knew this was going to happen tonight I would've brought my detective hat." |
| Ryan | Ryan chuckled.
"You know me... I'm always up for a bit of mystery diggin' here and
there."
After a few more steps he strained to look up at Wind. "Especially with this weird hedgehog guy running around, you know? It soudns exciting... but at the same time, I'm kinda scared." |
| Wind | "Don't
worry, there's two possiblities. Either he's actually Batman..."
The elf dramatically pulled the corner of his jacket over himself for the Dark Knight effect "Or he's a blood thirsty demon who'll rip out your guts and force you to change your phone service!" Wind's hands darted out and goosed Ryan in the sides before mussying up his hair "Bwahahaha!" |
| Fireball | Fireball
was kicking around the Industrial District. Nothing had happened in the
24 minutes he had been patrolling and naturally he had become very bored.
He leapt in the air, flipped forward and landed on his feet again. Leapt, flipped, landed. With a new body he was having to teach himself all his skills all over again. He still knew how to do them, but it was like he was wearing weights or something, that made his body react differently to what he expected. Plus the several months that this body had been in a coma meant it wasn't exactly in top physical shape. 24 and a half minutes. Leap, flip, land. Leap, flip, land. Leap, flip, FALL! DANNIT! Fireball lifted his face off the ground and straigtened his glasses. A poster, half soaked in a puddle, with one corner blowing dramatically in the breeze as if it was trying to get away, lay underneath his head. WANTED The
Contents of the Anderson Exhibit He read it with interest, then a mischievous smile crossed his face. |
| Sparky the Fox | Rosy
the Mouse sat at home, watching TV and looking incredibly bored. There
was nothing good on, so she just continually flicked between them, hoping
that something relatively interesting would come on.
A slip of paper came through the front door. She drew her eyes from the Television screen (which wasn't as difficult as it normally would be) and went to collect it. As she read thorugh it a smile slowly grew on her face. This was perfect! It looked like a challenge was heading her way. She put on her black leather boots and left the house, stuffing the slip of paper in her pocket as she went. |
| UltraSonic | Alex grew tired of sitting behind a desk and walked to the armory. There he aquired a holster for a shotgun so he could carry it over his back, he picked up a 10 guage and a box of shells and proceded to load the weapon and pack away the rest. He then stepped outside the station and began to walk the streets. Uncaring as for what people thought of his rather heavy armament. |
| Fireball | Fireball
was up and had pocketed the mucky poster in his inventory gloves (pocketed
or gloved?). He approached the backdoor of a warehouse building and knocked
three times. There was no immediate answer. He sighed and turned around.
It was a murky day today, but the temperature was nice; cool and refreshing.
The door opened behind him. He turned around to see a worker-type man in an orange over-vest. He nodded to the man and the man let him in. The room was a little kitchen, with a large kettle, lots of mugs, some sugar spilt over the surfaces, and big vats of tea bags and instant coffee. It smelled over coffee poweder and in the distance there was the hum of factory machines in the background. The table in the centre was covered in opened stapled documents. Socks the Rabbit stood over them looking a little disheveled. His sleeves were rolled up, his top button undone and his tie was loose. Somehow he still looked clean and pressed. "Fire... how're you?" "I'm fine, Socks... 's it ready?" Socks looked at the papers on the table. "Pre...tty much. Sign here and here and we'll go meet the man upstairs." |
| UltraSonic | Alex didn't
like what little he was given to go on. Finding his prey would not be an
easy task. He was going over the statistics of his target mentally as he
walked.
extremely dangerous, big deal he thought to himself What have I got to go on, someone wielding the power of chaos, I've dealt with chaos wielding entities before. Alex continued to walk, remembering the basics of the manhunt if you wait in the shadows, more often than not, your prey will come to you. He walked until he reached the museum, if he could find anything to lead him to the location of his prey it would be here. Hmm, this entity probably enjoys the hunt as well, we'll just have to see who's the better. |
| Ryan | Matt traveled
by rooftop, as he usually did when in a good mood.
The museum was in sight. Matt sprung airborne, disappearing and reappearing on the museum's rooftop. With a clean landing, Matt smirked. He could feel the adrenline pumping through him. It's been awhile since he'd done any of this ''detective'' work. Keep calm... That's what he had to do. Collect his thoughts, and keep calm. He would start from the top, and work his way down, keeping a weary eye out for any clues. The fox scoped the roof, taking notice of every square inch. If anything moved, or looked disturbed or unordinary, he'd know about it. The young hedgehog arched an eyebrow at his friend's antics. Ryan couldn't remember feeling more scared in his life next to Wind. Shaking his head, Ryan patted the elf's back and sighed. |
| Fireball | "And
this is all the codes?" A
suited man, a bit large around the belly, read through a list scribbled
onto the inside of a ripped-up cereal box and addressed Fireball and Socks.
Fireball was absent mindedly looking around the room. It was a tacky office,
with a map of the planet on the wall and a withered rug on the floor to
try and make it look expensive. "Well, all the ones I'm telling you about," Fireball replied. Socks shot him a look. "That's all the codes you need," Socks corrected. The suited man was disconcerted that Fireball wasn't making eye contact, and instead chose to distract himself from the meeting. "And this will get my full lawful access to Slywhin Labs?" He asked dubiously. Fireball rolled his eyes, a gesture hidden by his glasses. "Look, we've been over this. The codes will get you into Stride's old lab. You can take what you want! He's on another planet for god's sake, he's not gonna need it! Now if you'll just sign over my 30% share in the company, and give me the technology I've asked for, I'll be on my way." The suited man exchanged a glance with his attorney, a bespecled man sitting next to him who was clearly uncomfortable in the presence of adventurors, and then raised his pen and signed the document in front of him. |
| NyteShade | Hope Evangel,
was about her father's business, that being the investigation into the disssappearance
of the Chaos Emerald exibit from the SVT museum. She wandered in the abandoned
building, looking for clues. "why didn't we notice this earlier...?" Hope took more after her mother than her father, She had her mothers flaming red hair, and silver outlined spots speckling her black fur, even though they are much harder to spot, in fact if Nyte where her age, they could pass for twins, except for the bright blue eyes that Hope has gotten from her father. She kicks up some of the dust around the place, leaving footprints with her heavy work boots and dusting her semi-gloved hands on her subdued gray-black slacks. "this place really has gone to the dogs, mother will be ashamed. She loved the art exibits." |
| Wind | "Come
on, lighten up. You've survived worse than a ghost of a hedgenog. Let's
mosey and check out the museum. Never know what we'll find."
The elf walked as he talked, reaching the street corner and stopping in his tracks. He took a moment to scratch his chin before inspecting the near empty intersection thoroughly. "Sooo...which way do we go?" |
| UltraSonic | Alex sniffed
the air as he walked. He had to find something. A scrap of cloth, blood
from a cut, an empty matchbook, even the but of a cigarrette could get him
started.
However now he picked up a slightly different scent. Someone was here, with him, at the site of the museum, and he wanted to know who.
|
| Ryan | Ryan trotted
passed Wind, taunting him. "Since when do you care? I thought you 'followed
the wind.'"
As the hedgehog passed down the next block, he turned the corner. "Hey, I found it!" Matt was sure that if the culprit were to steal any emeralds, he'd begin on the roof. That's what he would do, anyway. But he couldn't find anything. Not a single piece of rubble looked crushed or disturbed. Neither were there any foot prints, not even faint. Each level of the roof looked spotless. So now he'd have to look inside. He knew there would be more searchers inside because of the post-it note all over the city. But it was a risk he'd have to take. He decided to linger just a bit more on the roof, in case he might stumble over a clue. |
| Fireball | The shoes
fit Fireball's feet rather nicely. The suited CEO of Cyber Met Inc., Socks
the Rabbit, and a few engineers and technicans had gathered to see the event
in the car park out the back of the factory. "So this'll work... with these Light Speed Boots I can follow a line of rings... at light speed?" "Near light speed. And not just a line of rings, any string of Chaos energy can be followed." "Cool,"Fireball nodded satisfactually."Right, well, I guess the only thing left to do is..." He turned back to Socks. "Hey, dude, do me a favour and babysit this neighbourhood 'til I get back." The rabbit nodded and shook his hand."Yeah, I'll do what I can." Fireball smiled. He tossed a salute towards the CEO, turned, ran, jumped up to catch a ring and sped away in an instant, leaving a trail of bronzen after-images. |
| Wind | "Oye,
that was closer than I thought."
The shaggy elf jogged over, taking a moment to admire the museum's fine, fine archietecture. "Wow...so.....race ya!" With that Wind broke into a sprint down sidewalk, leaving Ryan behind in his dust. |
| UltraSonic | After recieving
no reply Alex continued walking, continued searching, for anything, any
foreign substance. Whoever had done this, whoever had gotten the Chaos Emeralds
had no doubt been a professional, and would have left very little evidence
to begin with. And after all the looters it was doubtful that any would
remain.
Wait a minute, I'm such an idiot, don't look for the location, look for it's source, don't hunt the body, hunt the mind! Alex thought to himself, he had an idea, quite clever realy. He went to the electric company and began to search the records for any place with any drastic change in energy consumption. Anything brandishing that much power is going to cause some sort of extreme interference. Later I'll have to triangulate the previous targets to find the next Alex's thoughts were racing now, he'd picked up a trail that just might lead to his prey. |
| Fireball | Appearing
seemingly out of nowhere, Fireball arrives above the heads of Ryan and Wind.
The line of rings that floated overhead had disappeared. He drops down into
a crouch on the museum steps in front of them, and raises his head. He has
a terrific smile, like a child with a new toy.
"Hey kids!" He exclaims as he stands up before them. |
| Zair | "Do
they have them, Olaf? "It seems that way, My Lord." Olaf Hung up the limo phone, placing it back in the cradle as he looked over at his boss, Zairian Monteque. "I'll send some expendables to fetch them for you, Sir. That way it won't be linked back to your presence in this backwater." "Yes, the Monteque name musn't be tied to this dissappearance. Also, Olaf. Take care to have aour agents terminate the theives, loose tongues and all that." "Of course, Sir." The sleek black limo pulls up to the red carpet of the Starlight Run Resort. The driver gets out and walks back to the door, to open it and out steps a large muscular looking Jackel chap, in a black suit with matching black sunglasses. her stops beside the door, looking about before a young white furred lithe looking wolf in black armani steps out, a briefcase in hand. The wolf turns to the Jackel. "Olaf, I trust you to be discreet in your dealings, and please, no unnecessary violence." The Jackel nods once briskly. "Yes, Sir. Of course Sir." Zair, nods and walks into the hotel while Olaf, retuns to the limo and is driven away. |
| Ryan | Ryan, though
startled, greeted Fireball with a smile and a wave. He noticed his shoes.
"Whoa... Did you just get those? They're pretty sweet."
He walks closer, and makes like he's going to touch them, but quickly glances at Fireball, raising his eyebrows as if to ask, "Can I touch them?" |
| Wind | Wind
blinked, curious as to where Fireball jumped from. Oh well, doesn't matter
now
"Howdy, Stranger." He gave Fireball a small wave and trodded to the museum steps. Taking a moment to admire the fox's fine footwear he gave a low whistle "Pretty fancy shoes. Nike or Adidas?" |
| Fireball | Shooting
Ryan a look. "No, you can't touch them."
In response to Wind. "Cyber Met actually. Just got 'em. Watch this!" Fireball jumped once, twice three times. The soles of his shoes glowed blue and then- 8 of the closest 9 lampshades explode, leaving behind a bronzen after-image. There's a strange bronze cloud around the 9th as Fireball aims for it several hundred times but just dashes around it. Finally it explodes with impact like the others did. Fireball appears out of the cloud and falls to the ground on his feet. He tries to stand up straigt afterwards like a triumphant gymnast but is pretty dizzy and stumbles a little, looking kind of drunk. "They call it a light speed attack. Pretty cool, huh? Guess I got my speed back." |
| Sparky the Fox | Rosy had
been searching for half an hour. She got bored and began practising her
martial arts subconciously.
Left, right, left, kick, turn and block. Jump and kick, land and roll. She stumbled across Fireball, Wind and Ryan. She opened her mouth and began to say "hi" but as she realized that she had just began practisng in front of them she became embarrased and instead smiled stupidly, unsure if they would be impressed or look at her like she was crazy. |
| UltraSonic | By that time
Alex was running through all records of any electrical or energy disturbance,
and trying to triangulate the previous hits to locate the source or the
next target.
|
| NyteShade | Hope reaches
into one of her pockets, pulling out a cellphone and dialing a number. she
tsks as she gets sent directly to the voice mail of the person she's calling.
"Hey Crystal, this is Hope. I need you to bring me my laptop out of our room. also the camera and one of my holding necklaces. I know you'll get this message soon, so hurry up. I'll probably need your post cognition skills too. I'm serious get here ASAP, no stopping at the Queen of Hearts or anything, Okay?" Hope hangs up, then begins to search the display area. she examines the case that contianed the emeralds, pacing about the room. "hm, it's obvious that the case was forced, but it almost looks as iff the locks were melted off..." |
| Fireball | Fireball
turned to see the Martial Arts Mouse approaching. He squints at her to double
check she was who he thought she was. It was getting dark, he was wearing
sunglasses, and he'd just destroyed all the streetlights.
"Rosy? Rosy the Mouse from Sparky's team, how are you doing?" He glances at the others, then inside the old museum. There's movement in there. "So... I guess you're all here for the Chaos Emerald thing." |
| Sparky the Fox | "uh-yeah.
I haven't seen Sparky in ages though."
She said slightly surprised that the fox had heard of her. "I can't find any emeralds. Hey, you wanna join forces and find the emeralds together?" She sounded, as she heard it again in her head, a little bit too much like a cartoon character. |
| Ryan | After only
a few more minutes searching the roof, Matt teleported to the emerald's
room. He was surprised to find Hope. He hadn't entered quietly, or cautiously,
so it'd be a wonder if she hadn't heard.
He sighed heavily. Slow down... Ryan snickered at the mouses display of martial arts. It's not like he could do better, but wasn't it obvious that Rosey was showing off? He lifted his nose ignorantly. "Sorry, ma'am, but Wind and I are already a team. Lessgo, pal." |
| Antipode | "Shadow
Step!" Crystal suddenly bursts forth from the shadows on the wall and latches onto Hope's back. "Ta-da! What are we doing?" She looks down over Hope's shoulder at the remains of the display case. "Chaos Emeralds, sweet." Hope nods. "Did you bring my stuff?" Crystal beams triumphantly and thumbs at her backpack, which looks far too large for her tiny frame. "All in the bag! Lappy, cammy, everything. Ready for duty!" |
| UltraSonic | Before he went to stake out some of the larger corporate facilities he returned to the scene of the theft, hoping to obtain some comraderie. |
| NyteShade | Hope plucks
her digital camera from the pack, snapping off a few quick pictures of the
scene. "hm, do you know if the SCPD did an investigation of the crime, Crystal?" She doesn't wait for her answer and continues to snap pictures, before standing up and quartering the area, looking at minute details. She metally touches Crystal's mind, telepathy. //Hey Crys. I don't think we're alone, so keep your eyes peeled, okay?// |
| Fireball | "There
was no investigation," Fireball declares, striding confidently
into the building, leading Wind, Ryan and Rosy behind him. "That's
why there's a mystery. The police were busy running around putting out fires,
saving lives and looting electronics stores when the jewels were stolen.
It was the Fallout, remember?"
Fireball swaggered through the echoey museum, casually looking at the damaged displays. "Anyway, I know where two of the emeralds are." |
| NyteShade | "I
wouldn't know, what with not having been born yet." She looks over at him in droll fashion, face expressionless. "Where are they?" She's obviously not one for conversation. She only wants to get to the business at hand. |
| Fireball | Fireball
picked up a six thousand year old spear and waved it around like it was
an aluminium pole. Why were all the Evangels kids such brats?
"Prison Island... G.U.N are always trying to keep tabs on the emeralds, and if they got their hands on them, which they will have, that's where they'd take them. It's their most secure facility, and from what I hear they've stored them their before." |
| Antipode | //Hey
Crys. I don't think we're alone, so keep your eyes peeled, okay?//
Crystal nods in the affirmative and hops off Hope's back, moving off to investigate another ruined display and get a feel for the rest of the museum. She can hear Fireball approach and shoot his mouth off, and she frowns a little as she looks over at the doorway where he and three others entered, but doesn't let that distract her from her work. |
| Ryan | Matt looks down in disgust from his perch on the ceiling. It was too crowded, but this could be a good thing. Now he could leech information without doing any work. Ryan canters his head to the side. "So you think GUN took the Emeralds? I thought they were on the good side." |
| UltraSonic | By this time Alex has returned to the scene and reveals himself to the small posse. "G.U.N. is bent on self preservation, they're on your side as long as they can get something from you that they want or need" |
| Fireball | Fireball
points and outstretched arm and finger towards Alex and smiles at Ryan,
as if to say "he's exactly right". He turns to face the new arrival,
tossing the priceless pre-historical artifact back and forth from hand to
hand.
"Yeah, it's a kind of 'protect our definition of the free world, regardless of who gets hurt along the way' sorta thing. Care to introduce yourself, copper?" |
| UltraSonic | "The name's Alex Cardiodagan, SCPD." |
| Antipode | Crystal silently
traces a finger along the ground, oblivious to what's going on behind her.
Her eyes had lost focus a little, and she begins her investigations in a
more non-traditional method. She wanders along between the displays, gingerly
over broken glass, occasionally glancing up at the skylights above. The
voices of those behind her eventually faded to nothing but an incidental
whisper in the back of her mind.
There was a mummy exhibit in the next room; she wanders through, not really paying attention to her surroundings. She pads, as if in a daze, over to a stairwell and pushes the door open. Crystal leans over the rail and looks down at the stairs spiralling down into the basement levels, frowns, then tilts her head up to see the flight ascending to the roof. She stands still for a few moments, then turns and heads back to Hope. "There were lots of people involved, probably around six, I can't be sure," she whispers quietly to her cousin after she sits beside her. "They took the Emeralds and went to the stairwell, probably split them up. Some went upstairs, some went down. I'm not sure why they didn't just leave." She blinks her big green eyes at nothing. "That's all I was able to ken." |
| UltraSonic | Alex, ever
the careful observer watched the whole thing out of the corner of his eye,
but never let his pupils line up directly on Crystal, so as not to reveal
that he was watching her. Unfortunately, reading lips was not a skill he
had, so he would have to use deductive reasoning to learn that which Crystal
seemed to have already learned. Maybe she's onto something. Alex
thought When the coast is clear I'll have to investigate thought
Alex, finishing the train and making mental note of it for use later.
|
| Fireball | "Right..."
Fireball replies, his tone implying he doesn't hold the local police
force in much higher regard than G.U.N. He watches Crystal wander off, doing
the detective thing, and Alex start to do the same sort of thing.
"Well, I wanna hang around a day or two in case our mysterious arson strikes again, but after that I'm heading out to sea... to see what I can see... and steal back some emeralds." He addressed everyone while he grabbed the spear with his tail, trying to keep it balanced and straigt with a muscle he's not used to using. |
| UltraSonic | Alex paid little mind to Fireball's tone and went on about his business, inspecting the stairwell that Crystal had already looked at and considered her deductions to be accurate. |
| NyteShade | Hope nodded
with satisfaction. "I knew you could do it Crystal-chan. You've never let me down yet have you little sis?" She pats the younger girl on the head and smiles in big sister fashion. "Two groups... That means they could have devided up the exibit to take to two different places for some reason. Think they could have sold them off to the highest bidder...?" She seems To be speaking more to herself than to the others. "Would anyone buy them? knowing what they are? A private collector maybe?" She stares at fireball, then looks over at Crystal. "You think you could track them Crys?" |
| Antipode | "Probably," she replies quietly, still in a bit of a daze from tapping into her abilities of postcognition. "Not all of them, obviously. If we hurry the trail will be more fresh." |
| Ryan | Matt didn't
understand, at first, what Crystal was doing. Peering down, he had watched
the girl walking away from the group dreamily, looking at the ground. A
normal person would disregard her.
But this fox was not normal. He could tell from Hope's features that she must be related to Nyte somehow, most likely daughter. With deductive reasoning, Matt decided that Hope and Crystal had some relations, and that also meant Crystal probably has some weird ability along with Hope. Therefore, Matt did not disregard her. As soon as the young girl came back through the door, Matt teleported into the stair well. He looked up, and then down, dizzyed by the sight. There was nothing that he could see. Crystal obviously is able to see the invisible, either with good eyes, or she's psychic. If Matt was a vulter, then Crystal and Hope will lose their supper, because like a parasite, he will feed from their information. Fireball is only after the Emeralds, Ryan thought. I'm after the bad guys. Or guy. Or girl...zzz. He notices Crystal in the room for the first time. Excusing himself from Fireball and the gang, he trodded over to Crystal and stopped short once he saw Hope. Who looked an awful lot like Nyte, just a bit shorter. He scoffed, folding his arms across his chest and turning away. "I guess I should have known that if Antipode is Crystal's uncle, then you're her aunt, huh?" In a sudden flash of anger, he stuck an accusing finger at Hope. "You ain't gonna win this one, lady. Not this time!" |
| NyteShade | Hope stares
at Ryan blankly. "Excuse me? what ARE you on about? Are you accusing me of being married to my own father?" She frowns, a thin strait line, eyes turning icy blue. "I wonder about your sanity? That's terribly gross and wrong." |
| Ryan | Ryan steps back, withdrawing his finger. "Aren't you Nyte?" |
| NyteShade | "Nyte?
That's my mother. My name is Hope Evangel." She arches her eyebrow at him. "Why did you think I was my mother...?" |
| Ryan | He squints
as if to say, "Duh." Ryan puts on a smirk. "I should have
known... You looked a bit younger."
Waving off the subject, Ryan turns to Crystal, now in a more professional manner. "Did you find anything suspicious? Any clues?" The hedgehog waved his finger in front of her eyes, as she didn't appear to be paying attention. "Are you even there?" |
| Antipode | "I'm here..." she blinks up at him sleepily, but smiles. "But I'm afraid Hope's my partner on this one, noob. Everything's classified 'til she says so. So you'll have to get your own clues," she giggles a little at the boy. |
| Fireball | Catching
Crystal's glance, Fireball strolls over, joining the conversation.
"Yes, lots of people would be interested in buying the Emeralds, for a whole raft of purposes. Off the top of my head... Ivo Robotnik, 'Tiger' Lilly Mallone, Rogue the Treasure Hunter...uh... Scovil La Cruz, a whole bunch of dealers on the Chao black market." He looks contemplative. "There's a big market, basically. And the vast majority of them are more likely to steal from each other than pay cold hard currency. Anyway, what's the rush. Weren't these stolen, like months ago during the Fallout? Surely another few minutes won't hurt." |
| Zair | -=In an alley
in The Slums=-
Two dull looking dobermans shuffle about in an alley, warming their hands by an oil drum fire. One, with a scar over his right eye looks at the other, with a mohawk and frowns. "You sure this guy's gonna buy these things, man? I mean we're riskin' our necks out heyah, Mo." The mohawked doberman, aptly named Mohawk, slaps the other on the arm. "Look Larance, I made the deal didn't I? Do I ever make a bad deal? "well there was that one time in Jers-" "Ahhh, shuddap, Lars. The guy's gonna come okay? with a big wad of cash. We're in the big time now." The "guy" in question, Olaf, the Jackle, steps with distain into then alley, a breifcase in hand. He says not a word, but the two dobermans babble, trying to make small talk. *---*---* Olaf leaves the alley, with a small satchel, and his briefcase. The two dobermans lay amongst the refuse with glazed, unseeing eyes, braindead. Olaf climbs into the black sedan, idling out on the curb. The car pulls away with a soft purr as he opens the satchel, revealing two of the missing chaos emeralds. He pulls out his cellphone from his suit pocket and dials. "I have them Sir." A pause."Yes, Sir. Of course. It would be my pleasure." |
| NyteShade | "the
hurry is, the trail of chaos energy dissapates. Crys will only be able to
track it for so long." She reaches out to pat the girl on the head again. "Crys, think you can give us a direction that could have taken?" |
| Antipode | "Either in the basement or up on the roof," the girl replies quietly. "But seriously, I have no idea how they would get off the roof with a bunch of Emeralds, even in the middle of a riot." Crystal stares off into space, thinking to herself. "Does the basement have any tunnels that leads outside, even to the sewers? Someone should check on that. I nominate Ryan." She giggles. |
| Ryan | Ryan looked
a comical figure; arched eyebrows, shoulders slumped and expression dumb
at the suggestion.
--Cut Scene-- The young hedgehog sloshed in the sewage water with his right hand lit up like a torch. Since the stairwell, Ryan stomped angrily all the way down, through the basement door and now in the sewers. It stunk, it was wet. Why him? In the next moment, he found himself tumbling into the thick sewage. His hands flailed above surface for awhile before totally submerged beneath the muck. Seconds later, he emerged, right hand lit again, and left hand holding a shoe. Then it was like nothing else mattered. He'd found their first solid clue... hopefully, anyway. Ryan pulled himself out of the sewage and held his lit hand up at the shoe. It must have been there for a few days, from the looks of its condition. When he'd tripped over it, he could have sworn that it was pointing in the opposite direction he was traveling. Now that he thought about it, it made alot of sense that the theives would take the sewers. Where else would they go if they escaped through the roof? Someone would have definately heard a helicpoter, or at least seen them. It also makes sense that the culprits would travel in the sewage. That way, they wouldn't leave any foot prints by walking on the cemented sides. The youngster took off in a sprint, excited. Hah! Good thing he volunteered to search the sewers, huh? The rest of the yahoos were probably still searching somewhere up above. |
| UltraSonic | Alex, who
was no fool, nor was he a nice guy had once again entered the basement area,
with every intention of tracking, and killing his prey, he'd sensed something,
and he didn't like it.
|
| Ryan | But Ryan
ran right on past Alex taking the stairs three at a time.
"Hey, I found a clue, I found a clue!" he hollored, creating quite the racket as his shouts reverbrated in the stair well. |
| UltraSonic | Alex was not one to be easily duped. In a split second reaction he'd turned on his heel, cought up to Ryan and reached to grab him by the scruff of his neck. |
| Ryan | "Hey
I found- ACK!" The hedgehog squirmed, until finally he had an idea.
The air surrounding Alex became stuff, and slowly he could feel his skin and clothes getting hotter. With a sudden jerk from his whole body, Ryan flared up, easily escaping Alex's grasp. The boy stepped away defensively, suspiciously. "Who're you?" |
| UltraSonic | Alex was not amused in the slightest. "Next time I won't be so gentle" Alex said alex, aiming his rifle straigt at Ryan's face. "And I'll ask the questions, now, what have you found, and mind you I'm not in a good mood and killing you won't make me lose sleep at night" |
| Ryan | He eyed the
gun nervously, arching his eyebrow.
"A shoe." Ryan gave it a little wag, splattering sewage everywhere. "You're gonna kill me because I found my shoe? A bit drastic, don't you think?" |
| UltraSonic | "If
you stand in my way of nailing the chaos emerald wielding psycho running
around out there I just might" Alex replied, in no mood anyones lip.
He examined the shoe, made a mental picture of it and retreated once again
to the sewers. He didn't feel odd at holding Ryan at gunpoint, he was no
stranger to having to kill those who stood between him and his prey. He'd
picked up the scent at last, he knew what to do now. He traversed the sewers
to where one could easily exit them in a back alley. The ladder did indeed
show signs of recent use.
He emerged from the manhole slowly and the scent became stronger. Sure enough there were two dobermans. Dead. By the looks of them they hadn't been that way for very long. He checked them, rigor mortis had already set in, but then that only takes about 20 minutes. He looked for signs of stab wounds, gunshot wounds, and even after finding no gunshot wounds looked for spent shells anyway. There were none that he found. The scent of his prey was even stronger now. Wherever his target was, Alex wasn't far behind. curse my lack of preparation! I've very little in the way of tools for detecting residual energy. He began to examine the dobermans again, searching for the next clue. It was here, somewhere. He went through their wallets, hoping for anything, orders, a phone number, an address, anything. He also searched them for any tattoo's or markings that would reveal their affiliation. |
| Zair | Alex manages to find a number in the tattered pocket of one of the doberman's hoodies. It's been written hastily in barely legible scraw on a used napkin that the guy had evidently crumpled up in his pocket rather thoughtlessly. The stains render the number hard to read but Alex thinks he can make it out... could it possible be. yes there was definately a 7, a 6, and a 5 at the beginning, maybe if he could examine it closer he could decifer the rest. He finds that there's a name there as well, but the ink has been so blotted and smeared that its impposible to read. |
| Antipode | Crystal wades
past Ryan and pokes him in the shoulder. "Do
not tease the Mandragors," she whispers cryptically as she sloshes
off down the sewers. "He would just as soon eat
you as look at you." She leaves him to wonder what that means exactly as she continues on, following a trail only she can see and heading further and further into the dank, dark bowels of the city. |
| NyteShade | "I'm
not quite sure this whole going in the sewer thing is quite as sanitary
as I'd like." Hope grumbles to herself as she gingerly makes her way through the mire. "Mother will positively have a fit if she finds out we've been down here." She turns a mischievous gaze on Ryan. "She says there are rodent eating chaos beasts down under the city. We can use you as bait for them, Ryan, if they attack us." |
| Ryan | Ryan pumped
his muscules and thrusted his chest out, taking on a deeper tone. "Feh.
I could take on a few rodent-eating chaos beasts. Bring it on."
He slipped past Hope and eyed Crystal. "Can you see through this crud?" |
| UltraSonic | Alex took
the sheet of paper to a friend of his at one of the few remaining functional
laboratories.
"Yo, Ace, Got a favor to ask" Alex said as he walked into the lab that had the electron microscope. "Whatcha need?" Said the Velociraptor as he turned off the propane line to a bunson burner. "I need this examined more closely, what I realy need is someone to find out what the name on it is" Alex said as he handed the Raptor the small sheet of paper. Ace took the paper looked at it closely "This could take some time, I think I could have this for you by tomorrow afternoon" The raptor said. "Excellent, thanks a million" Alex replied, and he was on his way. |
| Zair | The tests run on the paper reveal the faintly written name to be "Olaf." When alex gets this information he is left with little understanding of his clue. Who or what is Olaf? that is what Alex must next find out. But how to trace him her or it? One could suppose that he might be able to call the number that was written on the paper and decripted. |
| UltraSonic | Name,
Olaf, numbers 7,6, and 5. There's got to be a connection, a code of some
sort. Wait, letters, what would 7,6,5 spell.... Alex quickly counts
the letters in the alphabet corresponding with the numbers Fed.....
Not very useful unless it has something to do with the feds.
Alex makes the decision to return to the museum one last time, maybe one of the girls that had been there could help him. |
| Zair | That's when it hits him like a bolt out of the blue, an epiphany so to speak. It's a name and the first 3 digits of a phone number. But, he's left now with figuring out how to trace it. Really though, how many people in a city the size of Savott could have the first name Olaf? |
| UltraSonic | Alex returned to the museum "Hello!, I think I've got something!" Ace said in a rather loud tone of voice, not sure if the others were still present. His mood had changed in the walk back to the museum. |
| NyteShade | "Oh?
You found something. That's wonderful. Care to clue us in?"
She smiles eyes sparkling brightly at the thought of finding the gems. She was always delighted to be of help to her father. |
| UltraSonic | "The target's name is Olaf, and we have his prefix. 765." said Alex, assuming that it was the prefix as it consisted of only 3 numbers. |
